11/19/2014 - Softball Factory Fall Classic Alex is a senior second baseman with a strong skill set. Defensively, Alex has an athletic and out in front fielding position. She receives the ball with soft and sure hands. Alex has a smooth transition, good release, and fluid motion when throwing. She has proper footwork and moves quickly from side to side. By working on her angles to the ball, Alex will increase her range. Offensively, Alex uses a square setup, active load and short stride to make a positive move to the ball. She has on time rhythm and maintains good balance while driving through the ball. Alex takes a direct route to contact and has good coordination between her hips and hands. Alex has good bat speed and barrel accuracy, which increases her base hit consistency. Overall, Alex is an athletic kid that will continue to work hard to reach the next level.
01/17/2014 - 2014 Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Tournament Alex is a junior shortstop that was selected to play in the Pre-Season All-American game. Defensively, Alex has an athletic fielding position with an on time approach. When receiving the ball, Alex uses two hands and transitions into her throwing position well. Alex has active footwork and plays through the ball well. By taking a better first step to the ball, Alex will increase her overall range. Offensively, Alex uses a square setup with a hands back load and square stride to make a positive move to the ball. She has a level swing path with smooth rhythm and timing, which leads her to making consistent contact. Overall, Alex is an athletic, hard worker that will continue to develop as a player.
10/23/2013 - Ronald McDonald Tournament - 16U Alex returns to SF for another PD event as an evolving SS with a balanced skill set. Defensively, she fields using sure hands, moves well to various balls and has good athletic field positioning. Working on increasing arm strength will help to improve fielding efficiency. Overall, Alex is a team player and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she uses a consistent load with a short stride and keeps her balance centered and stable before producing hard contact. She shows potential as a hitter and will benefit from an athletic set up and increased bat speed to improve power on contact point, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field consistently. Overall, she is a coachable and eager to learn and has a solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
