12/27/2014 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Starr continues to develop her skill set. Defensively, Starr has an out in front setup behind the plate. She has a good transfer and gains ground to makes accurate throws across the diamond. Starr makes good adjustments and is not afraid to ask questions. By working to get lower in her squat and to stick the screwball out in front of her body, Starr will improve her framing skill set. Offensively, Starr uses a closed setup and open stride to make a positive move to the ball. Starr does a good job of using her hips and hands to generate force through the ball. She makes contact with a level barrel and has the ability to take the outside pitch to right field. By shortening her swing and taking a direct path to contact, Starr will be able to become a more consistent hitter.
05/29/2014 - College World Series Select Training Starr is a sophomore C/SS with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, Starr has a narrow base when setting up her target. When blocking, Starr does a good job of centering her body to the plate. She improved throughout the week and worked hard to get the job done. By working on her footwork and smoothing out her overall approach, Starr will become a more presentable catcher. Offensively, Starr uses a square setup with a small load to make a positive move to the ball. She incorporates the use of her lower half at times which helps her with her power. Starr consistently puts the ball in play and works hard to come up with a hit. She will benefit from keeping her hands inside the ball and driving through contact. Overall, Starr is a young player that will continue to develop with training.
01/17/2014 - Softball Factory Spring Training at Vero Beach Alexis is a talented catcher with a balanced skill set. Behind the plate, she uses an athletic set up to help her embody balls when blocking and confident glovework when receiving. Working on fluid footwork towards the throwing target and angles when blocking will help her to increase overall efficiency. Overall, Alexis commands the field well and has a confident demeanor as a catcher. At the plate, Alexis uses an athletically balanced set up with a short stride before launching to ball producing line drive contact. She shows good power and will benefit from driving the hands through the zone and an explosive lower half to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Alexis shows great hustle on the field and has solid athletic ability to aid in her continued development as a player.
11/24/2013 - College PREP - Houston, TX Alexis is a young sophomore athlete that can contribute behind the plate and at shortstop. Behind the plate, Alexis has good lateral movement and keeps the ball in front well. She has sure hands and agile range, and gets out of her stance quickly when needed. Working on her footwork and softening her hands will help her become a more fundamentally sound catcher. In the field, Alexis makes accurate throws and stays low. Working on softening her hands and her pre pitch presentation will help Alexis become a well-rounded athlete. Offensively, Alexis uses a square setup and a long stride to make contact. Alexis hits the ball to all sides of the field very well. Working on her hands and getting her backside through will help with her overall power. Overall, Alexis is a competitor and will continue to grow and develop.
