01/10/2013 - Softball Factory Spring Training at Vero Beach Alyssa returns to us a better player than when we last saw her. Defensively, she is still working hard to develop as an OF and a 2B. She made improvements at both positions and should continue to work on the drill packages covered at camp for continued progress. She will benefit from being more open to making adjustments and should continue to seek to kind of instruction that will ensure her development. At the plate, Alyssa showed the ability to drive the ball and has a very consistent stride and stable balance as she launches to contact. Keeping her hands and hips on the same page should be the focus moving forward, this will help her to improve bat speed, power production and overall quality of contact. Overall, Alyssa has a lot of potential and needs to continue to play hard while having fun!
10/14/2012 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Alyssa is a young 2B/OF with a developing skill set. As an OF, she tracks the ball off the bat well and showed some range with good energy. She will benefit from incorporating some pre pitch movement, anticipating action and improving her footwork to be a more complete defender. As a 2B, she has soft hands and takes good angles to the ball off the bat, and should focus on improving her fielding position out front, being active in her pre pitch and charging the ball aggressively, but under control. At the plate, she uses a square set up with no load or stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her short, aggressive swing to the ball. She takes aggressive hacks and has the potential to hit for power if she sees the ball deeper and uses the whole field more effectively. She should consider adding a stride and load, simple and short, it will help her create some rhythm and allow her to eliminate her tendency to over rotate and lose balance. Overall, she is a talented young player with an aggressive approach which will help her develop at a quicker pace if she works hard!
