01/12/2020 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Amaya is an athletic 2B prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Amaya shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. She gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of her body. She makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping her throws accurate and on-line to her target. Making a quicker exchange on double play turns can help Amaya improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. She is smooth getting into her load and barrels up the softball well, leading to solid gap to gap pop. Amaya can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance throughout her swing. With three more years to develop, Amaya has the time and potential to further progress her skills on the field.
