12/27/2012 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament - Texas Ashlyn is a tall, athletic player. Behind the plate, she has a strong arm and willingness to improve on the fundamentals of the position. Further focus on gaining ground with her blocks, a strong wrist when receiving and an overall aggressive approach will enhance her skill set as a catcher. In the outfield, Ashlyn has an efficient arm slot that results in accurate throws. She continued to improve over the course of the event with her athletic pre-pitch set-up, playing through fly balls and effective communication with pop fly priorities. Focus on the coaches' recommendations in regards to quick exchanges, one-handed catches and proper routes to gap balls will further her development as an outfielder. In the box, she is a strong hitter with flashes of pop. As the event progressed, Ashlyn improved in her consistency of implementing a stride and load, aggressive hips and a short bat path to contact. Continued work in these areas will not only improve her power numbers, but will allow Ashlyn to be an efficient and consistent hitter. As a whole, Ashlyn displays the skill set needed to play at the next level.
