02/27/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - North Branford, CT Avery is a 2026 OF who has gotten physically stronger since we last saw her in March 2021. Arm strength improved from 48mph to 53mph and her exit velocity bumped up from 52mph to 58mph. On defense she is aggressive, plays through the ball and makes consistently accurate throws. Hitting wise, she is balanced, flashes barrel control and gets her lower-half through contact. Slapping wise, she has good footwork and places the ball to the 5/6 hole on the regular with pop. Overall, Avery is a talented athlete and someone our coaching staff would love to work with again in the future.
03/20/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - East Hampton (Hartford), CT Avery is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, she displays smooth / clean actions. She takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind and plays through with momentum to her target. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. She moves well laterally with range improving as she increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, she continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (52 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. She stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as she works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. She will slap with hands / feet staying connected as she stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. With 5 years to further develop, Avery has the makings of a special type player as she continues to progress her game.
