OVERALL Position Projection: RHP Evaluations Are Reviewed by Lea Ann Jarvis
07/10/2014 - Advanced Training and Competition at the World Cup Avery continues to refine her skill set as a RHP and OF with eagerness. Defensively, she understands both positions well. In the circle, she relies on her fundamentals as she consistently hits locations and has a strong follow through. Continuing to work on a more explosive leg drive, individual pitch spins/snaps, and overall strength will help to improve velocity, accuracy, and movement. As an OF, she has a solid pre pitch position, a quick exchange, fluid footwork, and agile range. Continuing to work on angles to various balls, reads off the bat, and keeping the head down will help to improve range and efficiency. Overall, Avery hustles and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she has a good presence in the box, quick hands, and smooth rhythm. She shows potential for power and will benefit from a consistent weight transfer, keeping the front side closed, and an explosive lower half will help to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to effectively utilize all hitting fields. Overall, Avery is a team player, makes adjustments well, and sets a tone on the field. She has a good frame for the position and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as an athlete.
