05/29/2014 - College World Series Select Training Avery is a junior third baseman with a developing skill set. Defensively, Avery has a square fielding position and works to field the ball out in front. She has a consistent arm when throwing the ball across the diamond. Avery does a good job of communication with the other fielders. By working on her range, Avery will be able to become a more efficient fielder. Offensively, Avery uses an athletic and square setup with a small load and short stride to make a positive move to the ball. She has an on plane-swinging path with on time rhythm. Avery has some pop off the bat, and by working to get to the extension position; Avery will be able to increase her power numbers. Also, by working to control her emotions maintain confidence at all times Avery will become a more mentally tough player. Overall, Avery is a developing player that will continue to grow as a player.
01/25/2014 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Avery is a junior outfielder that can also play behind the plate and contribute offensively. In the outfield, Avery has soft and sure hands with a quick transfer into the throwing position. She has an accurate arm when throwing to the bags. Avery works through the ball when receiving a pop up and a ground ball. Avery will benefit from playing light on her toes and taking a good first drive step to the ball. Behind the plate, Avery has sure and quick hands. She has good field presence, and will benefit from working on her blocking abilities. Offensively, Avery uses a square setup and a short swing path to make a positive move to the ball. She is an aggressive and strong hitter that maintains centered balance through her swinging motion. By working on extension and staying through the ball, Avery will increase her power numbers and her ability to hit line drives. Overall, Avery can contribute in many ways and she will continue to develop as a player.
