01/21/2013 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Brooke is a talented left handed hitting C/3B with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, Brooke is still getting a feel for the position and doing a nice job of allowing herself to be coached. She is athletic enough to apply good coaching and will benefit from improving her hand strength to receive as well as her body control to block more effectively. A consistent long toss program will aid her in improving her pop time with footwork and exchange remaining a consistent focus. As a 3B, she is an accurate thrower, shows a good glove angle to her backhand and again makes adjustments quickly. She should keep her feet a bit more active in her prep step, keep her hips lower and follow her throws to further develop. At the plate, Brooke uses a square set up with no load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her short swing to the ball. She consistently makes contact, has a solid bunt game and can to all fields effectively. Moving forward, her focus should be to keep her barrel through contact aggressively after firing her lower half through the zone to generate more bat speed. Overall, Brooke is a good athlete and displayed the kind of personality on the field that every team needs, with continued hard work and good instruction she is capable of getting better and better every time out.
