OVERALL Position Projection: RHP | SS
02/18/2013 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Carlie is a talented young RHP/SS with a projectable skill set. In the circle, she uses a quick arm swing with backward hand position in an athletic stance while displaying smooth rhythm and balance throughout her delivery. She keeps her shoulders level, feet/hips in line and finishes in a complete/athletic position before pounding the strike zone with 3 pitches. She will benefit from keeping her lead leg closed through her landing, keeping her arm tight to her body when throwing the curve ball and hiding the grip better on her change up to eliminate her tendency to tip the pitch to opposing hitters. As a SS, she shows soft, sure hands, a quick release that produces accurate results and is very efficient to her back hand side. She is solid around the bag with her double play feeds but should consider squaring up her feet to field with earlier glove position out front to further develop. At the plate, Carlie uses a square set up with a slight arm bar to load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her aggressive swing to the ball. Long at times, her swing will improve if she stays level through the zone, uses her lower half more aggressively and keeps her front side on the ball longer to increase barrel accuracy and power production. Overall, Carlie is a very good young player with a ton of potential, she will benefit from continuing to seek quality reps/instruction to ensure her development continues with consistent progress.
