05/05/2013 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Carlie is a talented young C/1B with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, she has soft hands to receive, a strong wrist to stick the pitch and provides a good target for her pitchers. She has active feet, looks the pitch in well and will benefit from lowering her set up, quickening her exchange and improving her timing/anticipation on the blocks. Carlie has athletic actions and should continue to work on using two hands to field bunts after properly getting around the ball and following her throws to improve flight and carry. As a 1B, she is pretty good around the bag, squares to throw and has some feel for situational positioning. To further develop, she will need to play lower, add a pre pitch prep step and improve her fielding position with her hands out and fingers down. At the plate, Carlie uses an open stance with no load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her short swing to the ball. An aggressive hitter, she will improve her consistency as she improves her grip, softens her stride and maintains balance throughout her swing. She shows solid barrel accuracy and will steadily improve with continued work and natural maturation. Overall, Carlie has some potential and will steadily develop if she is detailed in her preparation, continues to seek quality instruction and plays the game hard with high energy at all times.
