07/22/2015 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Cayleen is a 2017 two-way player a SS/C with a balanced skill set. In the box Cayleen is a RHH that uses a square stance with good balance. She shows good barrel control and works to extend thru zone, allowing her to be a consistent line drive hitter. She generates good bat speed and does a nice job of engaging her lower half. Seeing the ball deeper into the hitting zone will allow Cayleen to hit to all fields. At SS Cayleen is an athletic player with good range. She uses efficient footwork in her approach to the ball and shows good field awareness. She is confident in her backhand when fielding in the 5/6 hole and gives good feeds/flips on the double play. Playing thru the ball will allow her gain momentum to her target and cut down the distant on her throws. Behind the plate Cayleen works hard for her pitcher and teammates. She reacts to the ball well and does a nice job blocking. Her arm slot fits the position and with a quick release she makes accurate throws to her target. Staying low and loose in her stance will allow Cayleen to move fluidly and confidently to the ball. Overall Cayleen has a passion for the game and with continued coaching, reps and exposure she will have the opportunity to take her game to the next level.
12/27/2014 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Cayleen is a 2017 SS with a solid skill set. Defensively, Cayleen gives maximum effort to make plays for her teammates. She has good foot quickness, soft/sure hands, and a good transfer. Her arm is strong with a good release point. She is very smooth and has great range. Working to add more of a pre pitch to her approach will allow Cayleen to play through the ball and not let it get too deep in her stance. At the plate, she does a lot of things right. She uses a square setup and short stride to make positive movement towards the ball. She has on time rhythm and maintains good balance throughout her swing. Cayleen has good bat speed, barrel accuracy and tons of power potential. She needs to incorporate explosive movement in her lower half to increase power production. Overall, Cayleen is a talented player with a coachable spirit and a desire to improve. She possesses many of the intangible characteristics that would be an asset to a collegiate program.
07/23/2014 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Cayleen is a talented SS and C with a well balanced skill set. Defensively, she understands the demands of both positions well. As a SS, she has a quick, accurate arm with life on her throw, fields with sure hands, and moves well laterally. Working on a smoother transfer and controlled approach will help to improve range and efficiency. As a C, she makes strong throws as well as receives and blocks well. Working on framing and using the entire body when blocking will help to improve efficiency. Overall, Cayleen is athletic and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she uses a square set up with a short stride and keeps her balance centered before producing contact to the pull side. She shows good power and will benefit from keeping the front side closed, driving the hands quickly through the zone, and utilizing the lower half to improve power on contact, allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Cayleen has a good frame for both positions and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
