07/21/2014 - Factory Development Institute National Select Program Colleen is a talented 1B and C with a well balanced skill set. Defensively, she understands the demands of both positions well. As a 1B, she relies on her fundamentals as she receives put outs / assists plays. Continuing to work on staying down and through the ball, moving well laterally, and fielding with soft hands will help to improve range and efficiency. As a C, she makes accurate throws and centers the ball when blocking. Continuing to work on staying in an athletic set up and blocking skills will help to improve efficiency. Overall, Colleen has a great attitude and confident approach to playing defense. As a hitter, she uses a square set up with a short stride before producing hard gap to gap contact. She has natural power and will benefit from an explosive lower half and bat extension to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field more effectively. Overall, Colleen has a good frame for the position and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
