10/20/2013 - National Tryout - Liberty (Kansas City), MO Courtney is a versatile young lady whom can play both SS and the OF. As a SS, she has soft sure hands, active feet and agile range. She covers a lot of ground to both her glove side and back hand and should continue to work on her transfer and footwork to throw when making the big play. As an OF, Courtney brings a similar skill set to the position and is aggressive to the ball. She has a live arm when her feet are in line and should continue to work on improving her first step, fielding the groundball off of her glove side foot and getting behind balls in the air. At the plate, Courtney uses a square set up with no load a short stride and keeps her weight back before launching her short swing through the zone. An aggressive hitter, Courtney hits the ball hard, has good strike zone discipline with a line drive bat path and will benefit from keeping her hands loose throughout her swing, increasing her bat speed and power potential. Overall, Courtney should continue to seek quality reps and instruction to ensure she is being properly pushed/developed.
