10/07/2012 - College PREP - Austin, TX Desiree is a tall, strong 1B/SS with some pop at the plate. As a SS, she has soft hands and shows fluid footwork. She moves to her glove side especially well and should focus on playing lower and improving her glove position out front with her fingers down. She shows advanced body control and will benefit from keeping her feet active and in line when throwing to improve flight and carry. As a 1B, her hands play a little harder and she should focus on improving her footwork around the bag and lowering her fielding position to help her keep the ball in front. She has a great frame for the position but needs more work to improve her feel and comfort when handling different kinds of throws, and should focus on improving her approach to picking short hops out of the dirt, eliminating her tendency to turn her head. At the plate, Desiree uses a square set up with no load, a slight arm bar and keeps her balance centered before launching to the ball. She has the ability to drive the ball a long way and needs to loosen up in the box to improve her bat speed and explosiveness through the zone. She sees the ball deep into the zone and has the potential to consistently hit for power if properly pushed and developed. Overall, Desiree has a ton of potential thanks to her natural size and strength as well as her skill set and desire to be a good player. She is a 3 sport athlete and should do her best to give enough attention to her growth and development in the game of softball.
