03/24/2013 - College PREP - Rochester, NY Emily is an athletic 3B with a developing skill set. Defensively, she has soft hands and features an accurate throwing arm with some carry. Adding a prep step to her pre pitch routine will allow her to get her feet ready early, ultimately allowing her to cover more ground effectively. She works to keep the ball in front and will find it easier to do so if she has earlier glove position with her hands out front & fingers down to present the pocket of her glove. At the plate, Emily uses a square set up with a downward load, short stride and keeps her weight back before launching to contact. Long at times, her swing recovers to produce hard contact and will do so more consistently if shortened. She flashes pop, has athletic actions in the box and should continue to work on using her lower half more aggressively and keeping the bat head through the zone after contact to get her hands extended which will help her power production and overall quality of contact. Overall, Emily has a solid frame for the position, applies coaching quickly and should continue to work hard, play fast and most importantly, have fun!
