10/07/2012 - College PREP - Georgetown, TX Emily is a confident young 2B with a developing skill set. Defensively, her hands work pretty well and will improve as she improves her glove position and the timing of her glove presentation (earlier). She hustles at all times and has a very coachable nature, asking good questions and paying attention to the answers. She will benefit from improving her pre pitch (active feet) and eliminating her tendency to flip glove open to field. She plays the position hard and should spend some time getting more comfortable around the bag on double plays and other game situations to improve overall feel and experience. At the plate, Emily uses a square set up with a back load, a long stride and keeps her balance centered before launching to the ball. Her swing path is slightly up hill and will produce better contact if she uses her lower half more aggressively while staying under control. She is confident in her small ball ability and is willing to pressure the defense with a base hit bunt. Being more aggressive in the box will also help her quality of contact and ability to drive the ball consistently. Overall, Emily is on her way to becoming a solid young player. With the help of quality instruction and opponents, her game should develop nicely.
