05/05/2013 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Hailey is a versatile switch hitting OF/2B with a developing skill set and projectable frame. As an OF, she is a soft sure handed defender with sharp reads off the bat and good angles to the ball. She is aggressive off the bat, communicates well and will benefit from fielding ground balls off of her glove foot before using a strong power step in line to her target, then following her throws with her feet to improve already strong carry and true flight. As a 2B, she has similar instincts, provides good double play feeds and presents her glove well before getting into a solid fielding position. She shows agile range and should continue to work on keeping her feet active pre pitch and throughout her groundball approach to maximize effectiveness. At the plate, Hailey uses an open stance with no load, a short stride and has a direct path to the ball which produces solid contact. She generates quick bat speed and will benefit from keeping her front side on the ball longer from the left side and striding to the pitcher to ensure she is not bailing out, ultimately making the outer half of the plate very hard to cover. At this point hitting is ahead of slapping and may be the best option moving forward but continuing to work from the left side of the plate can never hurt and will add to her overall flexibility offensively. Overall, Hailey has a ton of personality, potential and plays the game with high energy and obvious passion. She should continue to seek quality instruction while playing against the best possible competition to ensure she is being pushed as well as developed.
