02/17/2014 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Jena is a junior right-handed pitcher that can also play in the outfield and contribute offensively. On the mound, Jena uses a narrow setup with a backwards hand position and a full arm swing to deliver the ball. She has a mixture of pitches that she uses to attack each batter. Her off speed pitch has sinking movement and can be used as a roll over or strike out pitch. By working on getting her rise ball higher in the zone, Jena will be able to use her rise as a chase pitch. In the outfield, Jena does a good job of getting behind the ball and having sure hands when receiving. She has an accurate arm and keeps the ball low. Jena has fluid footwork and agile range when moving to the ball. Offensively, Jena uses a closed setup with an aggressive approach when moving to the ball. She has a level swing and keeps her weight slightly on her back side through contact. Jena is a spray hitter that consistently makes hard contact with the ball. Jena will benefit from adding a load and stride into her setup. Overall, Jena is a confident player that will continue to develop.
