07/19/2013 - Factory Development Institute National Select Program Johnna continues to develop as an athlete. As a 1B, she keeps her head on the ball, charges slow rollers, and has pop on her throw. Continuing to focus on an athletic pre-pitch position, confident glovework, fluid footwork, and composure will increase efficiency and fielding success. As a hitter, she has a basic fundamental skill set and is aggressive in the box. Continuing to focus on an athletic set up, a stride and load, and driving the hands through the zone will increase power and efficiency. Implementing a strength and conditioning program will increase speed, agility, power, body awareness, and coordination. As Johnna continues to develop and mature through application and experience, she will be on track for seeking collegiate attention.
06/09/2013 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Johnna is a strong, athletic 1B with a developing skill set on both sides of the ball. Defensively, she is a soft, sure handed defender with good feel for the position and a throwing arm that produces accurate results. She is pretty good around the bag with her feet and should continue to work on playing lower at the hips to improve fielding position, keeping her feet active pre pitch to improve reaction time off the bat and keeping her arm path smooth with aggressive arm speed to get the most out of her arm. At the plate, Johnna uses a closed stance with no load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her hands to contact. Long at times, her swing recovers to produce consistent contact to the pull side and will be more effective to the rest of the field if she allows the ball to travel deeper into the zone before point of contact. She has athletic actions in the box and needs to be detailed in her preparation to make consistent improvements and develop solid muscle memory. Overall, Johnna loves to play the game, has a ton of natural athletic ability and should continue seek quality instruction and opponents if she intends to pursue softball in college.
