06/27/2017 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Katelyn, is a 2019 catcher and first baseman with a developing skill set. Defensively, she stays square in her field position and displays firm hands when receiving the ball. She pops out quick on bunts and keeps her body movement to a minimum. She creates momentum behind her throws and displays accurate throws to bases. At first base, Katelyn shows good mechanics on her backhand and proper footwork on double plays. She also shows accuracy on her throws but on focusing on shortening her release a little bit she will notice quicker more powerful throws to her target. Offensively, Katelyn stays tall in her setup and has an on time stride. She makes great use of her legs and loads back creating good leg drive thru her swing. She has smooth rhythm and stays center in her balance. She keeps her hands inside of the ball really well and is explosive thru extension. Overall, Katelyn shows a great love for the game and will continue to do what she has to do to take her game to the next level.
