03/24/2013 - College PREP - Rochester, NY Katie is a versatile young player with a ton of potential. Behind the plate, she has soft, sure hands, can stick the pitch and has quick effective footwork through the catch-&-throw progression. She gives a good target, has good body control to block and leads the defense very well with great communication skills. To improve her pop time, she should continue to work on improving her arm slot, following her throws and being persistent on working the glove to hand transfer. As a 3B, she has the same impressive skill set, fields the ball out front and uses her feet very well showing agile range. The addition of a prep step would aid her in being a more complete defender and needs to occur before every pitch to be effective. At the plate, Katie uses an open stance with a slight back load, short stride and keeps her weight back before aggressively launching to the ball. She hits the ball hard, gets line drive results and has an advanced feel for hitting to the opposite field. Improving her balance will allow her to get the most out of her natural strength and allow her to be consistent in her offensive production. Overall, Katie is an advanced young lady with solid instincts and she carries herself very well in a competitive atmosphere which will be important in the future when she begins to receive collegiate attention.
