07/23/2015 - College PREP - South Williamsport, PA This past December, Kayla tore her right ACL playing High School basketball. Although that was a small setback in her development. Kayla used her Rehab time to her full advantage to get stronger. As she prepares to be fully cleared to resume all activities, Kayla worked out for us in July 2015 to see the progress she has made. As a hitter, she shows good pitch recognition and is able to drive the ball with her upper body strength. She uses an activated stride and load and works to take a direct path to the ball. Kayla is able to generate good bat speed to contact and working to accelerate through the hitting zone will allow her to see an increase in her power production. She works the middle of the field and shows gap-to-gap potential. Kayla is a two-way player as a RHP/3B with a balanced skill set. On the mound Kayla has an athletic presence and can use a 5-pitch package to attack batters. She maintained solid velocity with all her pitches and is able keep batters off balance with her change up. She is able to work the zone and make adjustments when needed. With her ability to command the zone she is able to generate ground ball outs for her defense. As she finishes her rehab, she will be able to use more of her lower half to increase her velocity on her pitchers. At 3B Kayla, shows good range. She reads the ball well off the bat and takes good angles to the ball. She works to get in line with her target and play through the ball. She makes consistent throws to her target and finishing her throw will allow her to see more carry on the ball. Kayla continues to work hard in all aspects of her game as she continues to get back into games this fall.
07/03/2014 - College PREP - South Williamsport, PA Kayla is an athletic and strong 2016 RHP/3B. In the box Kayla has an athletic set-up with centered balance and a square stride. She has an aggressive approach to the ball and has the ability to hit to all fields with solid line drive production. With a strong build Kayla has the potential to hit for power and become a gap to gap hitter. At 3B Kayla has a great presence. She shows an athletic stance with a sound pre-pitch to the ball. She has soft/sure hands, presents her glove and looks the ball in. With an accurate and strong arm she is able to make the long throw across the diamond. She is confident in her glove work and has a solid back hand to play the line. She makes quick and accurate double play feeds. In the circle Kayla is confident and has good mound presence. She commands her pitches and trusts her instincts. She has a good arsenal of pitches and is able to keep batters off balance with her off speed pitch. With continued work and exposure, Kayla is on track for collegiate attention.
