01/12/2018 - Softball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Kayla is a 2022 left handed pitcher and first baseman with a strong skill set. In the infield, she has quick feet and agile range. She stays low and athletic in her fielding position and attacks the ball right off of the bat. She has a clean exchange on her throw and makes accurate throws to her target. She stays light on her feet and creates good momentum through each play. On the mound, Kayla has a confident presence and attacks each hitter that steps in the box. She has good control over each pitch but by focusing on spinning the ball more rather than trying to throw across her body to create spin she will start to throw more effective pitches once she gets the wrist snap on each one. Offensively, she loads back well and drives through her lower half creating good power from contact. She has fast bat speed and stays center in her balance. She is fluid in her rhythm in the box and displays gap to gap power. Overall, Kayla is athletic, coachable, and has great work ethic. If she continues to work hard she will make a great asset to a collegiate team in the future.
