12/27/2013 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Kiana is a junior catcher / shortstop with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, Kiana has an athletic set up. She is flexible with stable and centered weight while in her position. By working on her footwork, Kiana will be able to move side to side faster and field bunts quicker as well. Offensively, Kiana uses a square setup with a slight crouch. She is a no stride guy with a slightly uphill swing. By working on keeping her hands inside the ball and using her lower half, Kiana will develop more power and consistency. Overall, Kiana works hard and will continue to grow and develop as a player.
11/07/2013 - Softball Factory Hall of Fame Select Training Kiana is an evolving C with a balanced skill set. Defensively, she receives with sure framing skills, uses a low set up and active footwork when blocking. Working on throwing over the top will help improve efficiency. Overall, Kiana is athletic and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she uses a square, balanced set up and good pitch selection. She shows good power and will benefit from driving the hands through the zone to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Kiana has solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
07/23/2013 - College PREP - Watertown (Madison), WI Kiana is a steady young C with a developing skill set. Defensively, she blocks with good anticipation and body control, is consistent with her throws and will benefit from improving her balance, footwork to throw and arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Kiana uses a crouched set up with a back load, a long stride and keeps her weight back before launching her hands to the ball. Long at times, her swing recovers because of good bat speed and produces solid contact to the pull side. She is consistent with her swing and should continue to work on shortening her stride, keeping her hands back and seeing the ball deeper to allow her to better access the opposite field. Overall, Kiana will see pop times improve as she commits to a detailed drill package and pays attention to details in her preparation; she has the athletic ability to continue to develop and the coachable approach that coaches at the next level are seeking in potential players.
