08/24/2013 - College PREP - Bear, DE Kylie is a talented, young infielder with a well-balanced skill set. Defensively, she plays two infield positions, C and 2B, and she understands the demands of each position naturally. As a C, she has sure hands, an accurate arm, and vocal command. Working on gaining ground when blocking will help her make efficient plays behind the plate. As a 2B, she has active footwork that helps her cover ground, as she is agile on both backhands and forehands. Working on fluidity from presentation to fielding to making the play will help her be more effective defensively. Overall, Kylie is an aggressive athlete and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she uses a square set up with a wrap load, a short stride, and keeps her balanced centered as she launches to the ball with her short swing. She shows discipline at the plate and will benefit from keeping the front side closed as she explodes through the ball with the lower half facilitating her consistency and efficiency. Overall, Kylie has a good frame for the position at 5'6 and has solid athletic ability to aid in her continued development as a player.
06/24/2013 - Softball Factory World Series Kylie continues to develop as an athlete. Her eagerness to learn and make adjustments sets her apart from her peers. As a C, continuing to focus on learning and applying basic fundamentals such as an athletic set up, framing and blocking skills, and position awareness will increase fielding success. Her arm shows as accurate and she has posted good pop times for us, but she needs to work on getting rid of the ball quicker and taking less steps to throw. As she matures, her arm will become stronger and work better behind the plate. As a 2B, she has a controlled approach and decent feeds. Continuing to focus on glovework, fluid footwork, and confidence will increase fielding success. Kyle shows above average power with the bat for her age. As a hitter, she has a good set up with some balance. Continuing to focus on a stride and load, driving the hands through the zone, and utilizing the lower half will increase power and consistency. Implementing a strength and conditioning program will increase speed, agility, power, body awareness, and coordination. Only going into her freshman year now, Kylie will continue to develop and mature through application and experience. As she does, she will be on track for seeking collegiate attention down the road.
