11/07/2013 - Softball Factory Select Training at Vero Beach Lauren is an evolving C with a balanced skill set. Defensively, she uses a stable set up with a good target, makes accurate throws when she points elbow at target and has a quick release on throwdowns. Working on more confident glovework skills will help her to improve framing efficiency. Overall, Lauren commands the field well and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she uses a square set up with a short stride as she produces contact. She shows potential and will benefit from a consistent load and bat extension to improve power after contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Lauren has a coachable attitude and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
07/23/2013 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Lauren is a developing young C with a solid athletic frame. Defensively, she is a sure handed receiver with strong wrists to stick the pitch and produces accurate throws. She was consistent with pop times in the 2.0-2.1 range and should continue her work at quickening both her exchange and footwork to throw to see continued improvement. She gets out from behind the plate well on bunts and carries herself well behind the plate. At the plate, Lauren uses a tall set up with a downward load, steps in the bucket to stride and keeps her weight back before launching her hands to contact. She gets long to the ball at times but recovers to flash pop and will do so more consistently if she keeps her front side on the ball with her barrel pouring through contact for added extension. Overall, Lauren is a 3 sport athlete with a developing skill set and a coachable approach to the game. With continued hard work and commitment to a detailed drill package, she has the potential to develop into a possible college player.
