06/23/2014 - Softball Factory World Series Lydia continues to refine her skill set as a RHP and 1B with eagerness. In the circle, she has good mound presence, athleticism, and pitchability. Her pitching arsenal kept hitters off balance and she had good control of her change up at any point in the count. Continuing to work on individual pitch spins/snaps and release point will help to improve accuracy and movement. As a 1B, she makes quick, strong, accurate throws to various bases and her efficient footwork helps her consistently make plays. Continuing to work on an athletic pre pitch position, fielding with soft, sure hands, attacking the ball with a controlled approach, fielding out in front and a smoother transfer to improve fielding efficiency. At the plate, she consistently produces contact as she keeps her balance centered allowing the ball to travel deeper into the zone for better contact point. She shows natural power and will benefit from a controlled approach to the plate, an explosive lower half, driving the hands through the zone and a short, level bat path to generate more power on contact, allowing her to be a more effective hitter. Overall, Lydia has a good frame for both positions and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
02/17/2014 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Lydia is a young right-handed pitcher with a well-balanced skill set. On the mound, Lydia uses an athletic stance with a backwards hand positioning and full arm swing to deliver the ball. She uses a curve / drop combination to attack each batter. Her drop ball is her most effective pitch with sharp, late movement, keeping batters off balance. By working on a rise ball, Lydia will be able to work up and down in the zone efficiently. Offensively, Lydia uses a square setup with a long stride to make a positive move to the ball. She has a level swing and maintains centered balance through contact. Lydia is a line drive hitter that will benefit from keeping her hands higher through the zone. By making contact on the inside half of the ball, Lydia will be able to hit the ball to all sides of the field. Overall, Lydia is an athletic player that will continue to grow and develop.
