01/28/2018 - College PREP - Norcross, GA Mackenzie is a 2022 right handed catcher and shortstop with a strong skill set. Behind the plate, she has quick and fluid feet. She stays athletic in her base and soft hands when she receives the ball. She is quiet in her movements and keeps the ball in front on her blocks. She reads the ball well out of the pitchers hand and creates good momentum through her throws. She has an accurate arm and keeps the ball on line on her throws to bases. At shortstop, she is agile in her range and smooth through each play. She makes adjustments really well and stays low and athletic in her fielding position. She has a clean exchange on her throws and creates backspin on her release. Offensively, she has a square set up in the box and a short stride to the ball. She loads back well and stays center in her balance. Her hips and hands work well together and she gets through extension in her swing. She really drives through her lower half creating power behind her contact. Overall, Mackenzie has great work ethic and displays an athletic presence. If she continues to work hard she will make a great asset to a collegiate team.
