06/16/2014 - College PREP - Birmingham, AL Maddie is a talented C and IF with a well balanced skill set. Defensively, she understands the demands of both positions well. Behind the plate, she has an accurate arm with carry on her throw, receives confidently and uses her body athletically. Working on a smoother tranfser and sustaining movement will help to improve throwing and receiving efficiency. As an IF, she charges groundballs, moves quickly to the backhand and makes strong, accurate throws to various bases. Working on a more fluid approach down and through the ball will help to improve transfer time as well as gaining ground laterally. Overall, Maddie understands both positions well and has a confident approach on the field. As a hitter, she uses a square set up with a short stride and keeps her balance centered before producing hard contact to all hitting fields. She shows good power and will benefit from a consistent stride and load, weight transfer and bat extension to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field more effectively. Overall, Maddie has a good frame for the position and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
