11/18/2012 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Maddy is an athletic two way defender who plays 2B and C. Behind the plate, Maddy receives the ball with soft, sure hands and has a throwing arm that produces carry. She is on time to block and will benefit from improving the positioning of her throwing hand when blocking, being more efficient side to side and raising arm slot to improve flight and accuracy. As a 2B, Maddy features a strong, accurate arm with a quick release, fluid footwork and presents her glove on time/out front. She should continue to work on staying on the balls of her feet when going side to side and quickening her footwork to throw on the DP ball to be a more complete defender. At the plate, Maddy uses a square set up with a downward load, short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her short swing to the ball. An aggressive hitter, Maddy should focus on getting her back side pivot to fire with every swing to allow her to keep her front hip on the ball longer, ultimately improving her quality of contact/power production.
