01/12/2018 - 2018 Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Makayla is a 2022 catcher with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, Makayla has active footwork and agile range. She is low in her setup and sticks each pitch with firm glove work. Makayla gets to the blocking position quickly and stays vocal to her teammates. She has a quick exchange and fluid arm action. Makayla works well with her momentum and makes strong, accurate throws to her target. Offensively, Makayla has a square stance with a short stride to contact. She loads and stays balanced throughout her swing. She stays connected with her hips/hands, displays a good weight transfer, and has pop to the pull side. Overall, Makayla has a strong presence behind the plate and will continue to build on what she has learned.
