02/10/2019 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Maliea is a 2022 right handed pitcher and a third baseman with a developing skill set. On the mound, she has a calm presence and keeps an open hip direction. She drives hard off of the mound in her lower half but needs to work on creating tighter wrist action so that she can create more spin behind her pitches. Defensively, she is agile in her range and square in her fielding position. She is short in her action to the ball and makes accurate throws to her target. She has good double play footwork and keeps the ball in the infield. Offensively, she has a tall set up in the box and an on time stride. She is fluid in her rhythm and loads back well in her lower half. She is explosive through the zone and makes hard contact consistently. Overall, Maliea is very coachable and displays great work ethic.
