12/27/2014 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Marissa is a talented middle infielder with a well balanced skill set. Her willingness to learn and make easy adjustments attributes to her leadership and athleticism. She moves well, has good bag awareness, and turns double plays efficiently. Continuing to work on staying down and through the ball will help to improve fielding position and transfers for efficiency. Overall, Marissa has a passion for the game and a confident approach to playing defense. As a hitter, she produces opportunities to move runners and make things happen offensively. She has natural power and will benefit from driving the hands through the zone, utilizing the lower half, letting the ball travel deeper into the zone to generate more power on contact. Overall, Marissa will benefit a collegiate institution.
09/14/2014 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Marisa is a talented sophomore shortstop with an advanced skill set. Defensively, Marisa has an athletic and low pre pitch positioning. She attacks the ball and gets to the short hop. Marisa has exceptional footwork and body control that allows her to get to the ball quickly. She fields the ball out in front of her body in a smooth ready position. Marisa has a quick release, fluid motion, and a strong arm. Her overhand velocity tops out around 62 mph. She always finishes the play and will benefit from slowing the game down to her pace. Offensively, Marisa uses an active load and slightly closed stride to make a positive move to the ball. She maintains good balance while driving through contact. Marisa takes a direct path to the ball and makes contact with a level barrel. She does a good job of using her lower half to generate power behind the ball. Marisa exudes confidence in the box and shows her athleticism. By working to stay inside the ball and begin her timing mechanism sooner, Marisa will only add to her offensive game. Overall, Marisa is a talented, hard working player that plans to continue to prepare herself to compete at the next level.
