12/27/2013 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Marissa is a solid sophomore third baseman / catcher that will contribute to the heart of the batting line up. Defensively, Marissa has a square fielding position with sure and soft hands. She has efficient footwork with playable range and fields the front hand efficiently. Marissa has sure feeds with a consistently accurate and strong arm. By playing through the ball, Marissa will be able to move side to side more efficiently. Offensively, Marissa uses a square set up with mid hands and a slight crouch. She has a backwards load with a short stride and stable balance. Marissa has fast bat speed, which leads her to consistently make hard contact. By becoming more explosive with her lower half, Marissa will become a more powerful hitter. Overall, Marissa is a very coachable athlete and wants to learn more about the game. By making small adjustments Marissa will continue to develop as a player.
09/08/2013 - College PREP - Philadelphia, PA Marissa is a versatile 3B/C with a well-balanced skill set on both sides of the ball. As a C, she has soft hands to receive, a simple set up and understands the strike zone and how to stick pitches on the corners. Marissa is quick to her feet to field the bunt, fields it with 2 hands properly and will benefit from using more leg drive to make the throw and all throws from behind the plate. Blocking scores will improve as she commits to sending the glove first and letting the body follow with proper angles. As a 3B, Marissa has a lot of natural feel as shown in her ability to go side to side before making strong accurate throws. Playing lower will allow her to maintain her solid fielding position and will help to make her a more complete defender at the hot corner. At the plate, Marissa use a square set up with a back load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her short swing to the ball. An aggressive hitter, she flashes raw pop at times and will see more consistent results if she uses her lower half more aggressively and improves timing with her hands staying through contact. Overall, Marissa is a coachable young lady with the ability to quickly apply coaching. With continued hard work and attention to details, she can put herself in a position to compete for a spot at the next level.
