12/29/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Marissa is a 2022 right handed catcher and shortstop with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, Marissa is agile and gets around the ball well on her blocks. She sticks her pitches in the zone and stays firm in her framing. She is athletic and low in her catching position and has a clean exchange to her target. She uses her body well on her blocks and is short and quick in her action. She gains ground well when she pops out for bunts and generates power in her throws to her target. At shortstop, she keeps her throws on line to her target and makes routine plays. Marissa can tend to field the ball to deep into her body at times which is result slows down her transfer and rhythm through the ball. By focusing on getting her hands out in front more and creating momentum through the ball towards her target she will start to see everything become more smoother and accurate. Offensively, Marissa is square in her set up in the box and she takes a soft stride to the ball. She loads back well and is smooth in her rhythm. She stays center in her balance and her hips and hands work well with one another. Her bat speed is fast and she makes hard contact consistently. Overall, Marissa is very coachable and displays great work ethic. If she continues to work hard she will do what it takes to get her game to the next level.
