11/06/2014 - Softball Factory Hall of Fame Select Training Mikaela is a 2019 C who has a passion for the game. Defensively, Mikaela is willing to work hard and put new coaching into play. Behind the plate she is willing to get dirty to keep balls in front. She is aggressive to the play in front of her. Once Mikaela works on having a strong base she will become more consistent in her framing and blocking. In the box, she has a balanced and square set up. Adding a fluid stride and load to her swing will help her to transition her weight and be on time at contact. She is aggressive in her pitch count and puts the ball in play. Mikaela is an extremely coachable player, who with continued coaching will see a lot of progress.
09/14/2014 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Mikaela is a freshman catcher with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, Mikaela makes a good effort to keep everything in front. She does a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly. Mikaela has above average arm strength for her age and she will benefit from getting her hips in line with her target to make a throw and working on her overall comfort behind the plate. Offensively, Mikaela uses a square setup and stride to make a positive move to the ball. She has an aggressive approach at the plate and the potential to become an above average hitter. By working to incorporate the use of her legs into her swing and stay inside the ball at contact, Mikaela will be able to generate more power and distance to her hits. Overall, Mikaela is a hard worker that is eager to learn and get better at the game. With continued training and experience she will continue to develop as a player.
