07/09/2013 - College PREP - Albany, NY Mikayla is a very talented young player with a well-balanced skill set. Defensively, she tracks the ball well, has strong wrists to stick the pitch and is a vocal leader on the field. She is pretty good side to side and will benefit from lowering her stance to sit deeper, remaining quiet behind the plate with no unnecessary movement and operating on her in-steps to improve balance/mobility. At the plate, Mikayla shows a solid understanding of hitting while displaying advanced bat speed and barrel accuracy. She has a pretty good point of contact and will benefit from seeing the ball deeper into the zone, using her lower half more aggressively while maintaining balance throughout her entire swing. Overall, Mikayla has a lot of time to develop and should continue to play hard, have fun and seek quality instruction to ensure her tools are being properly developed.
