12/27/2013 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Mikayla is a solid senior third baseman that can also play short stop. Defensively, Mikayla has sure, firm hands with fluid and active footwork. She has an out front fielding position with playable range. Mikalya has an accurate arm with clean feeds. By working on smoothing out her backhand approach, Mikayla will become a better well-rounded fielder. Offensively, Mikayla uses a square setup with a short stride to make a positive move to the ball. Mikayla has explosive bat speed, which leads her to making hard contact. She has a level swing, but tends to let go of the bat after contact. By working on using her back half, Mikayla will become a more powerful hitter to all sides of the field. Overall, Mikayla is an eager learner and has the will to get better. By making small adjustments, Mikayla will continue to develop and grow as a player.
07/23/2013 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Mikayla is a steady 3B with a well-balanced skill set. Defensively, she has clean effective footwork to the ball, a quick release and is very agile when going side to side. She has solid footwork to throw and will benefit from raising her elbow to improve arm slot and following throws to improve accuracy. At the plate, Mikayla uses a tall set up with a downward load, a short stride and keeps her weight centered before launching her level swing through the zone. She can hit the ball to all fields, has balance throughout her swing and should continue to work on staying on the balls of her feet and using her length to generate some leverage and bat speed to and through the ball. Overall, Mikayla is a coachable young lady with potential and an athletic frame that will support her development if she continues to work hard through a detailed drill package.
