01/17/2014 - Softball Factory Spring Training at Vero Beach Samantha continues to evolve as a SS. She relies on her fundamental skill set to help her make routine plays. Working on staying down and through the ball and reads off the bat will help her to improve range and efficiency. Overall, Samantha makes adjustments easily and has a confident approach to playing defense. At the plate, she makes consistent contact when she clears her stride with a level swing. She shows good power and will benefit from a stride and load, driving the hands through the zone and an explosive lower half to improve power and consistency on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Samantha works hard and has solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
10/20/2013 - College PREP - Raleigh, NC Samantha is a developing SS with a good work ethic. Defensively, she is sound on the slow roller, sees the ball into her glove before trying to make the throw and has a consistent clean glove to hand transfer. She has pretty good double play footwork and will benefit from playing lower, working from the ground up and communicating at all times. At the plate, Samantha uses a square set up with a bat wrap load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching through the zone. She generates pretty good bat speed, has a good bat angle and a level path through the zone which allows her to make line drive contact. Keeping her shoulders level, keeping her hips behind her stride and being consistent with her bat speed are three things she should start with to see an improvement to offensive grades. Overall, Samantha has some potential to develop herself into the kind of player that can compete for a spot at that next level.
