07/22/2015 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Savanna is a 2018 two-way player as a C/SS that hits from the right side. In the box Savanna uses a square stance with good balance and on time rhythm. She has an activated load and generates good bat speed. She shows good control of the barrel and is able to generate power opposite field. Extending thru the hitting zone allows her to be a consistent gap-to-gap hitter. Loading her hands back instead of down will allow Savanna to take a direct route to the ball while generating more power. Behind the plate Savanna has a good presence with an athletic and low stance. She presents a good target and receives with soft/sure hands. Her transfer is fluid and using the proper arm slot she makes accurate throws to her target. She reacts well to blocks and staying low in that transition will allow her to be quicker to the ball. At SS Savanna uses efficient footwork in her approach to the ball. She works to play thru the ball and generates momentum to her target. Working to make her double feeds and bag coverage fluid will help her to turn those quicker. Overall Savanna has the tools needed to play at the collegiate level and she will have that opportunity with continued hard work.
12/27/2014 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Savanna is a hardworking 2018 catcher / shortstop that is continuing to develop her skill set. Behind the plate, Savanna does a good job of getting low and athletic in her setup. She communicates well with the pitcher and works hard to get to the frame position. At shortstop, Savanna moves well from side to side. She takes the direct angle to the ball and receives with soft and sure hands. By working to square up her shoulders when throwing, Savanna will become more consistent with her throws. Offensively, Savanna uses a slightly closed setup, active load and short stride to make a positive move to the ball. She has on time rhythm and maintains good balance while driving through the ball. Savanna takes a direct path to the ball and does a good job of using her hips and hands together to generate power. She swings hard, makes consistent contact and has a solid approach at the plate. Savanna understands the game, makes good adjustments, and wants to get better every day. Her hard work and passion for the game will have an immediate impact on a talented team.
07/23/2013 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Savanna is a very young talented C/SS with advanced actions all over the field. Behind the plate, Savanna uses her hands well, uses her hips well on throws to 2nd and gets out from behind the plate well on bunts. She is clean with her transfer and has pop times in the 2.0-2.2 neighborhood with plenty of time to grow. As a SS, Savannah is a little more jumpy and is still developing her comfort with groundballs and reads off the bat. She plays with confidence and is aggressive to the ball, works hard to make adjustments and should continue to work on having earlier glove position out front, keeping her hips low in her approach and following her throws with her feet to improve carry and flight. At the plate, Savanna uses a square set up with no load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her level swing through the zone. She generates quick bat speed through an aggressive lower half, has a solid feel for the bunt game and should consider adding a load to improve her rhythm and timing pre-pitch. Overall, Savanna is a tremendous young talent with a ton of potential in this game. She will need to continue to work hard and be detailed in her preparation to ensure her development continues in a smooth, steady manner.
