07/21/2014 - Factory Development Institute National Select Program Shannon is an evolving SS and OF with a balanced skill set. Defensively, she understands both positions well. As a SS, she has a quick release and playable footwork to the backhand side. Continuing to work on an athletic pre pitch position, staying down and through the ball, and fluid footwork will help to improve range and efficiency. As an OF, she fields with confidence, communicates well, and gets good reads off the bat. Continuing to work on getting to the powerline to improve throwing efficiency. Overall, Shannon makes adjustments and works hard on the field. As a hitter, she uses a square set up with a short stride as she produces contact. She shows potential for power and will benefit from keeping her balance centered, driving the hands through the zone, utilizing the lower half, and timing to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Shannon has a good frame for the position and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
