12/27/2012 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament - Florida Shayna continues to improve and impress on both sides of the ball. Defensively, she has all the moves and has improved her fielding position by playing lower and fielding further out front with soft, sure hands. At the plate, Shayna is a tough out and knows how to grind out at-bats. She possesses great hands and an advanced feel for base running which is a rare thing these days and will be a welcomed asset to some lucky college program. Overall, Shayna has that "IT" factor and is a great teammate with solid leadership characteristics. Her athleticism is evident as a hitter and defensive player and she stood out as one of the top players at this event. She is determined to get better, always has a little extra hop in her step, and is going to make a great addition to a college program, without question.
11/11/2012 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Shayna is an athletic and skilled player. At shortstop, she has an aggressive, yet controlled, pre-pitch approach and is mentally engaged during each pitch/play. Her skill set is advanced and displayed through her solid fundamentals, smooth glove work, fluid footwork, and agile range that compliment her extremely strong, accurate arm. An area of focus for Shayna on the field, is to stay low on backhands (don't stab) and more efficient glove to hand transfers. In the box, Shayna demonstrates a smooth stride and load, quick hands through the zone, and a short, compact swing. She will continue to develop her strength and efficiency by implementing a less restrictive set-up (not closed) and a back load (rather than wrapping). Overall, Shayna is on track to attracting collegiate attention. Her advanced skills, work ethic, attitude and athleticism would be an asset for any program.
