07/11/2013 - College PREP - Cheyenne, WY Sierra is a versatile young player whom can play both SS/OF. As a SS, she is a sure handed defender with a quick clean exchange/release and is no stranger to getting dirty. She has a good throwing arm with carry, has good feel for both ends of the double play and will benefit from getting better reads off the bat, keeping her feet active pre-pitch and anticipating action to improve 1st step quickness. She plays with good energy, can throw on the run from multiple arm angles and should continue to work on playing lower with early glove position out front. As an OF, Sierra is still developing her feel and comfort but takes good routes/angles to groundballs, has a pretty good transfer and needs to consistently keep her feet active to get great jumps off the bat. She has good closing speed, flashes good footwork to throw and should continue to work on live ball reads, working from the ground up and playing through the ball aggressively. At the plate, Sierra uses a square set up with no load, a short stride and keeps her balance centered before launching her aggressive swing to the ball. She has a strong presence in the box, flashes pop and displays advanced barrel accuracy with her chin consistently staying to contact allowing her to see the ball off the bat. To further develop, Sierra will need to work at keeping her front side (hip) on the ball longer, improving her timing and using her lower half more aggressively on every swing to fully access the power she generates. Overall, Sierra is a better C than OF at this time but has plenty of time to develop her defensive skill set. She has excellent balance in her game and is going to be in a position to entertain college attention if she continues to develop at this rate.
