11/12/2017 - College PREP - Middletown, CT Sophia is a 2022 1B with a balanced skill set. In the box, Sophia is a RHH that uses a tall stance with centered balance and an on-time stride. She generates fast bat speed, makes square contact and works the middle of the field. She shows pop and working to take a direct path to the ball will allow her to see an increase in her power production. At 1B, Sophia handles the routine play and is willing to get dirty to keep the ball in front. She works well to her back-hand and does a nice job of gaining ground to her target. Adding a pre-pitch to her approach will allow her to play through the ball more and generate more power behind her throws. Overall, Sophia is an athletic player with the tools needed to play at the next level.
