10/14/2012 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Sydney is an athletic C/3B with a quickly developing skill set. As a C, she has a repeatable transfer and arm stroke that allows her to be consistent with her throws. She is quick to her feet to field bunts and gets around the ball well to get the throw off. She will benefit from improving her set up and stance by sitting deep and working on her insteps to increase flexibility and lateral range. She should continue to work on developing soft hands and should start by improving her glove position when giving a target by bringing it closer to her chest, not locking her arm out in front of her. As a 3B, she shows hands that work well together but need to be softer. She shows good carry with her throws because she uses her feet well. She has athletic actions and should focus on adding a prep step and continue to work on anticipating the ball being hit to her every pitch. Footwork around the bag will improve as she grows and gets stronger, but should remain a focus and be worked on to guarantee her development as a defender. At the plate, Sydney uses a square set up with an arm bar to load and creates a lot of pull side contact. She flashes pop at times and will benefit by keeping her bat through the zone, eliminating her tendency to roll over. She will experience more success as she incorporates her lower half more aggressively and works to get the most out of her body on every swing. Overall, Sydney is a talented young player with a lot of time to develop and gain experience. This is definitely a player to keep an eye moving forward!
