05/30/2013 - College World Series Select Training Sydney continues to set the bar athletically. As a RHP, she has determination, knowledge, work ethic, and potential. Her competitiveness on the mound allows for her to work the count and mix pitches well providing opportunities for her to stay ahead in the circle with her arsenal of pitches. Continuing to focus on location, spins, and leg drive will increase velocity and movement. As a 2B, her feeds and glovework are sure while her fluid footwork helps her get to groundballs successfully. Continuing to focus on an athletic pre-pitch position, quick footwork, and pivots will increase range and fielding success. As a hitter, her smooth, short stride and load sets an athletic rhythm that compliments her bat path ultimately producing hard contact. Continuing to focus on driving the hands through the zone quickly and utilizing the lower half will increase power and efficiency. Implementing a strength and conditioning program will increase agility, athleticism, and endurance. With continued application of recommendations, Sydney will seek out collegiate attention.
04/28/2013 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Sydney is a talented young 2 way player with a developing skill set. In the circle, she uses a quick arm swing with backward hand position out of a wide stance with a rushed rhythm and tempo. She keeps her shoulders square, falls to the 3b side to finish and has a slight recoil before her square landing. To further develop, she will need to improve her ability to finish pitches with a stiff front side to create some resistance, use more energy in her delivery instead of in her wind up and find a smooth steady tempo that she can repeat from pitch to pitch to improve command and overall pitchability. As a 2B, Sydney has quick feet, a strong arm with carry and goes side to side very well. She will benefit from playing lower, having earlier glove position and keeping her feet square to improve her fielding position. She tracks the ball well off the bat, makes consistent throws and should continue to work at keeping her hips lower after completing a simple pre-pitch prep step to prepare for action. At the plate, Sydney features a simple stance with no load or stride and has a bat path that produces hard contact. She has really quick hands which she uses to generate solid bat speed and should consider implementing a load/stride to her swing to further add to her power production and potential. She will see better results as she commits to staying through the ball to create some extension and uses her lower half aggressively on every swing to ensure she holds nothing back. Overall, Sydney has a ton of potential and should continue to seek quality instruction and opponents to ensure she is being properly pushed during her development.
