05/11/2013 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Sydney is a very talented young RHP/OF with a steadily developing skill set on both sides of the ball. In the circle, Sydney features a full arm swing with backward hand position in a tall athletic stance with smooth rhythm and tempo throughout her delivery. She keeps her shoulders level, has in line direction through a complete athletic finish with a sound landing and has the ability to change speeds while pitching to contact. A strike thrower, Sydney pounds the zone with all of her pitches with keeps her pitch count low and her defense involved. As an OF, Sydney is a soft sure handed defender with a good first step and a strong accurate arm. She plays through the ball well, stays in line to throw and will benefit from eliminating some steps to throw to get rid of the ball quicker. She communicates very well with confidence and should continue to work keeping her feet active pre pitch, not drifting to fly balls by running to a spot and being sharp with her angles to the ball off the bat. Overall, Sydney has a lot of tools to go along with a projectable frame and an obvious passion for the game. She simply needs to continue to seek quality instruction, play hard and be detailed in her preparation to reach her full potential which could make for a special player!
