06/03/2021 - Softball Factory College World Series - Prospects Select Training Tatum is a talented 2025 3B that attended the College World Series Select Training Event! On defense, Tatum does a great job of taking a quick first step and moving through the ball. She has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. She does a great job of fielding the ball out in front with soft hands. Something for her to work on is getting over the top of the ball more on her throws and being smoother. Hitting wise, she has a great setup and is balanced in the box. She makes hard consistent contact and stays through the ball well. If she can work on driving her lower half and legs more, she will be even more powerful. Tatum was extremely coachable, and is definitely a player our coaches would love to work with in the future!
02/14/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Tatum is an athletic OF/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where she shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (61 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. She stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and she shows a feel for the barrel. In the OF, she takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. She works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to her target. Range will increase as she improves foot quickness. At 3B, she displays smooth, fluid actions. Feet are active as she attacks balls and plays through with her body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Tatum has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress her game.
