01/15/2021 - 2021 Softball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Alaina is a C/1B prospect who showcased her skills during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Behind the plate, Alaina tracks the ball into her glove and makes accurate throws to the 2B bag. She tucks her chin when blocking and keeps dirt balls in front of her. At the plate, this RHH shows plus barrel control and generates great raw power. With four more years to develop, Alaina has the time and potential to further build upon her skills on the field.
03/01/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Alaina is a R/R 2-way player as a C/1B. Behind the plate, she sits in well and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. She works hard laterally and tries to body up pitches in the dirt off of her chest. On throws down to 2B she works to utilize her lower 1/2 helping to get more into her throws - pop times at 2.25. At 1B, she hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. She makes the plays, gathers well and has good footwork to throw. As a hitter, this righty has an aggressive approach and is looking to swing it. Swing is level as she swings against a firm front side, engaging her lower 1/2 and driving the ball on a line. Only a 2025 grad - Ward has a solid skill-set with still a ton of time to develop.
